Online or in person? Both Available

Swift Values offers full probate van valuations either way. Most vans are well-suited to our online service, but if your vehicle calls for a valuer on site, we do that too.

Online Valuation – £49

The best option for most estates with a single van or light commercial vehicle. A qualified valuer reviews the registration details, mileage, photographs, condition, MOT history and any fit-out or racking before providing an HMRC-compliant probate valuation, usually within 2–3 working days.

Best for: 95%+ of estates

Specialist Commercial Vehicles

For estates involving several commercial vehicles, business vans, refrigerated vans, Lutons, tippers, dropsides or specialist trade fit-outs. In most cases we can still work from photographs and vehicle details, but we will quote first so the valuation is proportionate to the work involved.

Best for: high-value or specialist estates

What we can value

We provide specialist probate valuations for vans and light commercial vehicles, from ordinary estate vans to more specialist work vehicles. Whether the estate includes a small panel van, a high-mileage trade vehicle, a crew van, a pickup or a van with racking and equipment, our valuers can assess it for HMRC using the registration details, mileage, photographs and condition information you provide.

This page is for vans and light commercial vehicles. If the vehicle has been converted for leisure use, please see our separate campervan probate valuation service.

VANS WE CAN VALUE FOR PROBATE

Panel Vans

Standard panel vans including Ford Transit, Ford Transit Custom, Volkswagen Transporter, Mercedes-Benz Vito, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Peugeot Expert and similar light commercial vehicles.

Small Vans

Compact commercial vans such as the Ford Transit Connect, Volkswagen Caddy, Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Renault Kangoo and Vauxhall Combo. These are often used by tradespeople, small businesses and sole traders.

Large Vans

Long-wheelbase and high-roof vans including Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, Volkswagen Crafter, Renault Master, Vauxhall Movano, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay and similar vehicles where size, mileage and commercial use can materially affect value.

Crew Vans & Double-Cab Vans

Vans with additional seating, side windows or crew-cab layouts. These can have a different market from standard panel vans because they may appeal to both trade and private buyers.

Pickups & 4×4 Commercial Vehicles

Commercial pickups and utility vehicles such as the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200, Isuzu D-Max and Volkswagen Amarok. Condition, VAT status, mileage, specification and use can all affect probate value.

Specialist Commercial Vehicles

Tippers, dropsides, Lutons, refrigerated vans, welfare vans, recovery vehicles and other adapted commercial vehicles. These may need a more detailed review depending on the specification, body type and condition.

Vans With Racking, Shelving or Fit-Outs

Vans fitted with ply lining, tool storage, shelving, roof racks, tow bars, electrical equipment or trade-specific fit-outs. Some additions can support value, while very specialist or worn fit-outs may limit the resale market.

“Valuations are the biggest single area of risk, accounting for a large part of our compliance checks. You are strongly advised to instruct a qualified independent valuer.”

Why executors choose
Swift Values for van valautions

Most online van valuations are not designed for probate.

Commercial vehicle buying sites are built to generate sales leads and often rely on assumptions before the van has been inspected.

For probate, HMRC requires a realistic open market value at the date of death, taking into account the van’s mileage, condition, MOT history, specification, commercial use and any racking or fit-out.

That’s why our valuers assess the actual vehicle using photographs, registration details and supporting information, giving you a clear, defensible valuation you can submit with confidence.

No guesswork, no inflated online estimates, no second-guessing. Just a professional van probate valuation, prepared properly.
