Online or in person valuation? Both Available
Swift Values offers full probate valuations either way. Most estates are well-suited to our online service, but if your situation calls for a valuer on site, we do that too.
Online Valuations
The best option for most estates. A qualified valuer personally assesses the photographs and documentation you provide, producing a full HMRC-compliant report within 1–2 days. Covers everyday household contents, vehicles, jewellery and most antiques.
In-Person Valuations
A qualified valuer attends the property to inspect estates containing significant antiques, fine art, jewellery collections, classic vehicles, or items likely to attract interest from international auction houses. We travel UK-wide.
Probate valuations
needed to be simpler
Part of probate is putting a value on the deceased’s possessions for HMRC, from household contents to jewellery and cars.
For generations, inheritance tax fell on inherited wealth, much of it in art and antiques, and the old probate valuation system was built for that world. Most estates aren’t like that now. Families face inheritance tax because of property and investments, yet still go through a process designed for exceptional collections.
After twenty years as a valuer and auctioneer, I built Swift Values so any family can get a proper probate valuation quickly and easily.

“Valuations are the biggest single area of risk, accounting for a large part of our compliance checks. It is important to properly ascertain the value of assets. For assets with a material value you are strongly advised to instruct a qualified independent valuer.”
